Jono Becomes a ‘Tennent’ No Longer!
We started working with Jono Tennent back in early 2023 as he was ready to pursue his goal of owning a home but was unsure of his price range and had wanted to learn more about the process. Being a first home buyer, we guided Jonathan through the process and explained that he would receive a stamp duty discount and Lenders Mortgage Insurance waiver due to him being a eligible first home buyer.
After establishing his financial goals, calculating his price range and sourcing a bank that offered places on the ‘First Home Guarantee Scheme’, we secured a pre-approval which gave Jonathan confidence to start making offers. We also recommended Jonathan to Lauren Canning who provides Conveyancing services, who helped him look over contract of sales and handled the legal side of the settlement process. Unfortunately, the initial hunt didn’t go to plan as he was unable to secure any properties and after three months the pre-approval expired which put a handbrake on his home ownership goal.
Fast forward to October 2023, Jonathan had bolstered his financial position by building savings and paying off his student debt. Reinvigorated, we set out a plan of attack, re-evaluated his price range and secured another pre-approval with the same bank. After a month of searching, Jonathan’s many hours of research on Domain and Realestate.com.au paid off after his offer on a home was accepted!
We kept the process simple and as stress free as possible for Jonathan by handling all paperwork, communicating with the bank assessor and pushing the loan application through to unconditional approval. After encountering a few hurdles with the bank late in the process, we guided the loan through to settlement which put an end to Jonathan’s year long search for his first home.
